Immortal Technique - Peruvian Rap Songs

Immortal Technique's real name is Filip Andres Coronel. He's a rap musician, born in a field hospital in Lima, Peru on February 19, 1978 and raised in Harlem, New York.

As many black people in Harlem, he lived a life of poverty and crime. When he was younger, he came a few times in contact with the police and court, for doing some minor offends. Because of these crimes he got sentenced to prison. While in prison he improved his rapping's and lyrics and never backed down for a good rap-battle against other MC's.

After a year he got out on parole and was allowed to live with his father. After some years studying political science at school he started to sell his music on the streets. He couldn't find a descent job and making music was the only real thing he loved doing. Most of the time he sings about controversial issues like politics, society, racism, corrupted governments, life and poverty.

He claims he sold over more than 200.000 copies of his music, spread over 3 albums. He always kept control of his production and never closed a deal with a record company until 2004. He kept control over his music because, he says so himself, record company's make more money off the music than the musician himself. This is probably the reason why so few people ever heard of him.

I personally love his music!

There aren't mutch rappers left who bring the same quality of rapmusic as he does. His music is a mix between 2Pac and Cypress Hill, in a combination of great sound, powerful lyrics and catchy tunes.
